Our Approach

Our Approach

Hillcrest Vision and Ethos

The vision of Hillcrest International Schools is for each child to achieve personal excellence as a valuable member of our global community.

At all stages of learning, we set out to inspire, encourage, and empower the children to achieve this vision and to live their lives by the strong values that our schools reflect:

Respect: for ourselves, each other, our community, and the environment

Through involvement in our wider community and the country in which we live, students enhance their learning experience, develop compassion and empathy, and contribute toward the growth and development of the community.

Curiosity: to discover, explore, and develop personal interests and strengths

Research suggests that intellectual curiosity has as big an effect on performance as hard work. Our students are preparing for jobs that did not exist when they started their schooling career.

Our small class sizes also enable teachers to give students individual attention. This individualsed approach to each child’s development encourages enthusiasm for learning with the freedom and confidence to think differently and to aim high.

Independence: to develop self-motivation and purposefulness to learn on an independent basis

Opportunities are provided for students to take ownership of their learning at appropriate levels, encouraging them to experiment, explore, and enquire to expand and enhance their knowledge as they grow in confidence and independence. Students are encouraged and empowered to work independently as well as in collaborative groups, whatever their age.

Determination: to strive to achieve

Not only in academics but in all areas, students are taught to try and try again until they achieve their best and to take a leadership role in the process. In the artistic sphere, talented and expert teachers encourage a balance between mastering techniques and the need for self-expression. On the sports field, students compete at a high level in team and individual sports. In extra-curricular activities, students are encouraged to explore new opportunities and even create new Clubs to explore their passions.

Leadership and Governance

The Hillcrest Preparatory and Secondary Schools are each led by an internationally qualified and experienced headteacher who works in tandem with the Braeburn Group Management Committee to ensure the educational integrity and overall success of the School. A Board of Directors oversees Braeburn Schools Limited, the overarching financial and managerial arm that oversees and ratifies decisions put forward by the Group Management Committee and Senior Leadership Team.
